Arrive 5-10 minutes early-
Allow time to sign-in, purchase your class and relax for a few minutes before class begins. Doors open 15 minutes prior to class start time. Please come at least 5 minutes before start time, more if a new student or purchasing passes, so that you have time to settle-in and are ready to go when class begins. You can use any extra time to relax and warm up before class begins.
Latecomers - Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins, so that you're arranged in your space and ready to begin at the start time. Since our studio consists of only one room, the door will be locked five minutes after class is scheduled to begin. If you arrive late within those five minutes, please enter as silently as possible as to not disturb the beginning of class.
Practice on an empty stomach
Do not eat 2-3 hours prior to any yoga practice. Juice or fruit are OK if you need quick energy before class. Drink plenty of water prior to and after class.
Dress appropriately
Wear comfortable, form-fitting workout clothing. Layers help to adjust for temperature changes during and after class.
Purchase a yoga mat
Having your own yoga mat supports your commitment to your practice and ensures its cleanliness. Mats are available at the studio to use until you have one. Mats are always available for students who walk or bike to the studio! Students that walk or bike to class 10 times receive a free class! (Ask your instructor for a punch card)
Remove your shoes
Leave your shoes in the hallway in the studio lobby. This preserves the sacred nature of the studio space. We also prefer all items that are not necessary for yoga are left in the cubbies.
Turn off your cell phone
This enhances your experience and is a polite gesture to your fellow students.
All-levels and Basics classes
Classes are appropriate for new students in moderate to good physical fitness. Let the teacher know you are new to Empower Yoga. We recommend giving yourself 3-5 basics classes before moving into All Levels classes if you are new to yoga. Take the class at your own pace and give yourself time to learn the poses and discover the benefits. Remember every student in class was new at one time, so start today!
If you are injured, new to exercise or pregnant
We recommend scheduling a private lesson or attending beginner workshops to help you get started. Please notify the teacher of any injuries or medical conditions. This helps the teacher in assisting and giving you modifications during class.
Practice often
It is safe to practice yoga daily and will help in building a strong yoga foundation.
Yoga is a process
Be consistent in your practice. Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you learn and grow.
Support your yoga practice
Allow yourself to experience a private yoga lesson and yoga workshops. Spend an hour with an expert teacher and have them cater the practice to fit your needs. Take these tips into a group class so you can flow with the rest of them!

I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are One.
