First Class is Free! No need to pre-register just show up and try a class.
Don't have a mat, no worries borrow one of ours for free. Bring a towel or rent one for $1.
Arrive 5-10 Minutes Early Allow time to sign-in, purchase your class and relax for a few minutes before class begins. Doors open 30 minutes prior to class start time.
Latecomers If you arrive late, please enter as silently as possible to avoid disturbing the class.
Practice on an Empty Stomach Do not eat 2-3 hours prior to any yoga practice. Juice or fruit are okay if you need quick energy before class. Drink plenty of water prior to and after class.
Purchase a Yoga Mat Having your own yoga mat supports your commitment to your practice and ensures its cleanliness. Mats are available at the studio to use for free until you have one. Mats are always available for students who walk or bike to the studio! Students that walk or bike to class 10 times receive a free class!
Injured, New to Exercise or Pregnant If you are injured, new to exercise, or pregnant we recommend scheduling a private lesson or attending a beginner workshop to help you get started. Please notify the teacher of any injuries or medical conditions. This helps the teacher in assisting and giving you appropriate modifications during class.
Practice Often It is safe to practice yoga daily and it will help in building a strong yoga foundation. Practice 3-4 times a week and it will change your body, practice 5-6 times a week and it will change your life! O Yoga is a Journey Be consistent in your practice. Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you learn and grow.
Dress Appropriately Wear comfortable, form-fitting workout clothing. Layers help to adjust for temperature changes during and after class.
Remove your Shoes Leave your shoes in the hallway of the studio lobby. This preserves the sacred nature of the studio space.
Turn off your Cell Phone Turning off your phone enhances your experience and is a polite gesture to your fellow students.
All-Levels and Basics Classes Classes are appropriate for new students in moderate to good physical fitness. Let the teacher know you are new to Empower Yoga. If you are new to yoga, we recommend 3-5 basics classes before moving into All Levels classes . This will allow you to move at your own pace, and give yourself time to learn the poses and discover the benefits. Remember every student in class was new at one time, so start today!
Support your Yoga Practice Allow yourself to experience a private yoga lesson and/or a yoga workshop. Spend an hour with an expert teacher so she can cater the practice to fit your needs. Take this knowledge with you into a group class so you can flow with the rest of them!
